Guido van Staveren – CEO

We are Moyee Coffee. We think it’s unfair that 99,9% of all Ethiopian coffee leaves the country as green beans. While the retail price for roasted beans is 6 to 7 times higher. Therefore we are preparing a coffee revolution, We invested in coffee roasting equipment in Ethiopia based on what we call the Fair Chain Principles.

What is the social impact of your business?

Ethiopia earns 800 million with its no 1 export product, 19 million people live from this. Ethiopia receives 3.000 million development aid. Producing their coffee Fairchain will stop the need for development aid. Than we move to Rwanda, Equador, Panama, Colombia. 90% of the coffee we drink comes from countries that receive development aid. Our aim is to grow to 8 million in next 4 year and 80 million in next 15 year. This will not only create a positive effect in coffee producing countries, but also creates jobs in Europe.

What do you want to achieve by being part of Impact Hub Scaling?
