COBI Bicycle collects old bicycles and their stories to restore and resell them to bike lovers. They believe that every bicycle has a story and they want to help bike lovers in keeping alive the story of their own.
COBI Bicycle offer their customers restored second hand and vintage bicycles, as well as maintenance services to keep them in good condition. Servicing is provided directly by apprentices, young people who are learning to enter the labor market through the partnership between Cobi Bicycle and an organization caring for abandoned children. Maintenance support is also provided as a subscription ensuring access to equipment, space and advice for those who want to do the work themselves.
What is the social impact of your business?
COBI is recycling used bicycles, being the first recycling center of this kind in Romania, set up to reduce the environment impact of transport.
The team has also developed an apprenticeship program, where they offer training in repairing bicycles and working opportunities to young people coming out of institutions for abandoned children.
What do you want to achieve by being part of Impact Hub Scaling?
We wish to develop partnerships and a process to source second hand bikes from the Netherlands, to supplement low local collection, especially in new locations.
Please give us one interesting fact about you.
We have secured state funding for entrepreneurs to expand to new locations in Romania and we are also working to make our workshops 100% self-sustainable and green in terms of energy consumption.
